The Sacramento Kings travel to Brooklyn Sunday afternoon for a game against the Nets.  This is the first game of the team’s current six-game road trip, coming right after Sacramento’s tough 117-104 loss to the Houston Rockets at home.

Brooklyn has a reputation for being one of the worst teams in the league, and have started off the season with a less-than-inspiring 4-11 record, but the team has still managed to stay competitive in their games.  Brook Lopez has been a great presence for them inside, and a few of their players like Trevor Booker and Sean Kilpatrick have found ways to be productive, so this won’t necessarily be an easy game for the Kings.

Here are some notes heading into the matchup:

• Sacramento gave Omri Casspi a very large opportunity during their game on Friday against the Rockets, and despite some rough play he showed a willingness to compete.  More consistent time on the court could help smooth out some of the issues he had in the game, and it will be interesting to see how much time he receives, if any.
• Garrett Temple is emerging as a very good contributor for this team, and really showed what he can do last time out against James Harden and the Houston Rockets.  Temple has the ability to guard multiple positions at a very high level, and also contributes as a facilitator and floor-spacer on offense.  He seems to be in line for more minutes going forward, so it will be worth watching how much he plays against Brooklyn.

A win certainly shouldn’t be expected tonight, but Sacramento will need to do much better on this road trip than they did on the previous one if they plan to get back into the postseason picture.  A win tonight would get the Kings off to a good start and would help them improve on their somewhat disappointing 6-10 record.
