• The Sacramento Kings improved their preseason record to 2-2, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 116-104.  The Kings entered halftime leading 62-44, but allowed the Lakers to outscore them 36-20 in the third quarter.  This appeared to be the beginning of yet another second half collapse against the Lakers this preaseason, but the Kings ended up outscoring the them by 10 points in the fourth quarter, winning the game by 12 points.

Many players, including DeMarcus Cousins, didn’t play at all tonight, so this game was a good opportunity to get extended looks at some of the players that may not get to play much during the regular season.  Rudy Gay and Darren Collison still got extended minutes, but many players, including Ty Lawson and Omri Casspi, didn’t see the floor at all tonight. With that said, here are a few interesting notes from the game:

    • Ben McLemore only took three shots in his 30+ minutes tonight, but he did still managed six assists.  Going forward it will be important for him to find a way to stay engaged and active on offense.
    • Rudy Gay also had a good night, getting seven assists and taking six free throws.  Many have questioned Gay’s ability to be efficient offensively, so it’ll be important to see to him continue to get to the free throw line and stay active as a passer.
    • Skal Labissiere started the game for the Kings, but only played 11 minutes.  In his limited time, he scored two points on four shots, and failed to improve on his performance Monday night.  It’s worth noting that he was the only rookie to play tonight, so the organization seems interested in seeing what he can provide for the team.

Overall, the Kings had another great game, this time beating a conference opponent.  The team will look to continue their success on Saturday night when they face the Washington Wizards in Sacramento.
