• Rudy Gay has indicated that he will opt-out of the final year of his contract with the Kings according to ESPN’s Marc Spears.

Gay will pass on his $14.2 million player option in the hopes of securing a long-term deal in free agency this summer.

Prior to tearing his left Achilles in January against the Pacers, Gay posted averages of 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals on 45.5 percent shooting from the field (37.2 percent from three) in 30 games with Sacramento.

Rudy Gay’s agent says he is “ahead of schedule” as far as his injury rehab goes and plans to be back on the court by the end of June.

Per the ESPN report, Gay is open to talking with any team in free agency and is also reportedly open to re-joining the Kings.
