• It’s an odd week in the NBA as two teams travel to London for a Thursday meeting, sending their respective schedules out of wack. Beyond that, we’ve got three nights of just four games so this will be a week to pay very close attention to the schedule. Let’s take a look at the Week Ahead:

    Games Played Breakdown

Four Games: Blazers, Bucks, Clippers, Kings, Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Pelicans, Raptors, Warriors, Wolves

Three Games: Bulls, Cavs, Hawks, Heat, Hornets, Knicks, Lakers, Magic, Mavericks, Pistons, Rockets, Spurs, Thunder, Wizards

    Two Games: Grizzlies, Jazz, Suns

    One Game: Celtics, Sixers

If you’re in a league that sets their lineup weekly, it’s misery to be an owner of the Sixers or Celtics. Thanks to a London trip, they’re playing only one game this week leaving their streaming value as low as possible. Neither team sports a must-play star because one game in a week just isn’t quite worth the trouble. As incredible as Kyrie Irving is and as wonderful as Ben Simmons’ stat lines have often been, one game won’t cut it.

The Grizzlies, Jazz and Suns’ schedules aren’t much better with only two games on the docket. This is especially true for Utah with them in the middle of an East Coast road trip with games at the Wizards and Hornets this week. The Jazz offense ranks among the worst in the NBA when they’re on the road.

On the other side, there are several teams that have great streaming value. Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are all very light nights in the league, all with just four-game slates. With such a wacky schedule this week, paying attention to the schedule is extremely important to capitalize and maximize your matchups. Five teams have games on two of those three nights: The Blazers, Heat, Kings, Lakers and Raptors all give you a chance to put players in your lineup on nights that your opponent will most assuredly not have a full team going.

The Warriors once again have the most fantasy friendly schedule this week which, considering how incredible they are in general, is really no change from normal. But another fun schedule belongs to the Los Angeles Clippers. Thanks to their horrendous injury situation, there should be plenty of gems floating around your waiver wire and if they have an “LAC” next to their name, they’re worth a look. The Clips play the aforementioned Warriors along with games against the lowly Hawks and twice against the Kings.

    Wire Watch

    Delon Wright, PG, Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have had tremendous depth this season behind their dynamic duo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry and another man has stepped out of the shadows in the last couple weeks. Wright has been a good source of points, assists, steals throughout the season but he’s really stood out the last two weeks, particularly the last two games. In the last two, Wright is averaging 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals. Wright is a great play especially on a week when the Raptors have a nice schedule for streaming.

    Gerald Green, SG, Rockets

Green came out of nowhere and fit in with the Rockets perfectly. He’s been the ideal 3-point specialist, averaging 19.8 points in the last five games while hitting five 3-pointers per game. It’s clear that without James Harden in the lineup, Green is providing a scoring boost. He shouldn’t be sitting on your wire for long.

    Wayne Ellington, SG, Heat

Speaking of 3-point specialists, Ellington has provided a much needed spark for the Heat and could do the same for your fantasy team with his long range shooting. He’s nailed three 3-pointers or more in seven of the last eight games and he’s chucking nearly seven per game so the volume isn’t going away anytime soon.

    Injury Report

Kawhi Leonard (shoulder) will be reevaluated in the next few days but shouldn’t be expected to play in any of the Spurs’ three games this week.

Blake Griffin (concussion) is unlikely to play tonight in the Clips’ game against the Hawks.

Andre Drummond (ribs) is probable for tonight’s game against the Pelicans.

Joel Embiid (back) did not practice yesterday but with the Sixers not playing until Thursday in London against the Celtics, his status is to be monitored.

Al Horford (knee) traveled with the Celtics to London so it’s looking like he’ll likely play on Thursday.

Zach Lavine (knee) and the Bulls are hopeful to establish a date for his team debut this week.

Otto Porter (hip) practiced on Monday which makes his status look better for the Wizards’ next game on Wednesday against the Jazz.

Damian Lillard (calf) didn’t play last night and should be considered questionable for the Blazers’ game against the Thunder on Tuesday.

Michael Beasley (knee) is questionable for the Knicks’ game against the Bulls on Wednesday.

Marquese Chriss (hip) left the Suns’ game last night against the Thunder in the second quarter but with Phoenix not playing again until Friday, he should be considered questionable and his status should be monitored.

On the Nets side of things, Caris LeVert (groin) will play tonight. DeMarre Carroll (knee) will not though he isn’t expected to be out long. And D’Angelo Russell (knee) practiced with the Nets’ G League team today and could return to the Nets as early as next week.

For the Heat, both Dion Waiters (ankle) and Justise Winslow (knee) will miss the next two games.
